Indian culture
Culture can be termed as collective achievements by a group
of people. It comprises of customs, values, beliefs, life style, heritage and
arts (music, painting, dance and handicrafts etc.). The social attitude and
behavior of any social group are determined by its culture.
Most of the people down south believe that customs and
traditions followed by people in north is extravagant , for example marriages. North Indian culture is followed
most prominently in 7 northern states which include Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi,
Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh. Although Rajasthan , Madhya Pradesh and Bihar are considered as northern states for their cultural
and linguistic similarities and heritage they were not formally a part of North
India.
CLOTHING:
The daily outfit of northern people is
salwar- kameez for women and kurta for men. During marriage brides are
supposed to wear Ghagra -Choli which
literally make them look like angels brought to earth from heaven. Men from
Punjab wear a headgear which is known as As TURBAN, PAGDI etc. it’s a custom
which people in Northern India follow seriously because it is for honor.
